Biography

Bethalyn grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of
Virginia. She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and grew up just
north of that in Amherst County, below Charlottesville, in the
center of the commonwealth. Although it was a small, quiet
town with little cultural opportunities, Bethalyn fell in love with
the arts at an early age.
She obtained a B.F.A. at Longwood College (now Longwood
University) in Farmville, Virginia where she studied teaching as
well as theatre. Upon graduation, she moved to Atlanta,
Georgia where she worked in educational theatre as well as for
The Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts.
In 2003, she moved to Los Angeles and settled near the beach.
Her move proved to be successful when she immediately
landed a role on the critically acclaimed, Emmy winning HBO
series, Deadwood. She continues to work in the industry in
both theatre and film.
Trivia
She is the mystery lady featured in silhouette in the opening
credits of DEADWOOD.
Val Staples, an accomplished illustrator, is her brother.
Her heroes include the incredible Helen Mirren and the late
Fred Rogers.
She has studied Irish folk dance as well as lace making and also
enjoys basic jewelry crafting.
